- 1: The Current Situation—Reason
for the
proposal
Development is gobbling up land
across New England at an exponential rate. Our vital farmland, woodland,
wildlife habitats, and classic small towns of New England are being eroded by sprawl. You’ve
seen it in the town you live in—not far from your own backyard.
Only a small percentage of
the New England landscape is managed under a plan of sustainability where
the development of land is balanced by the conservation of vital historic,
agricultural, natural, environmental, cultural, and recreational
resources.
